Im installing a digital projector at work... Any one know what the wiring code is to the pins on a VGA cable?

Page 72 of the Keene Catalogue has all pinouts you will ever need

A large download from

http://www.keene.co.uk/pages/downloads/dnl...talogue2005.pdf

Should point out that the Keene catalogue is a 16Mb download

OK for broadband , an hour for dial up tho , it is 129 pages long.

you can ask for a printed copy here

Or you could do a google... www.proav.de/video/monitor-pinout.html

  • 1- Red
  • 2- Green
  • 3- Blue
  • 4- ID bit
  • 5- no connection
  • 6- Red Ground
  • 7- Green Ground
  • 8- Blue Ground
  • 9- no connection
  • 10- Ground
  • 11- ID bit
  • 12- ID bit
  • 13- Horizontal Sync
  • 14- Vertical Sync
  • 15- no connection

You don't neccesarialy need to connect anything other than the red, green, blue (and their grounds) and the ground on pin 10, and the Sync's.

HTH

David

Thanks Guys,

However do you know what the cable colours are? Basicly Ive used a pre made vga cable, I know want to chop of the end, and wall mount the conector...

Only way to be sure with your cable is to test it, use a multimeter with the end you chop off, bare the wires and test which goes to which pin. :D

One neat trick, which saves soldering, is to get a "back-to-back" VGA gender changer adaptor - the kind that have the 2 plugs directly mounted to each other, not the ones with the plastic bit in the middle. RS do them for about 8 quid, so you'll probably be able to get them for less than a fiver elsewhere :D

Cut a hole to suit it in a blank socket plate, mount it up, and connect your pre-made cable (which needs to have the "wrong" gender at one end!) to the back. Needs a deepish socket box, but no soldering.....

Bruce.
