sheplayswithfire
I'm trying to get a CO2 jet system for a touring show, with a height of at least 8m. I'm struggling to find parts that don't cost a small fortune, and I'm wondering if it's cheaper to buy an off the shelf system. The temperature that CO2 changes from liquid to vapour is -78C (please say if this is not correct), and bottle pressure is 57 bar. The opening in the cylinder is 6mm, so any subsequent opening must be equal or larger so as not to restrict the flow. All these factors mean the solenoids have to be very tough, large and resistant, and are very, very expensive. If anyone knows where to get appropriate solenoids from, or whether these are actually required at all, please let me know. Any words from someone experienced in this field would go a long way! Jivemaster
Hire or buy the kit! Getting the flexi hoses that are rated to that temperature isn't easy or cheap, getting valves that handle the temperature and pressure and flow rate without freezing is tough and expensive. Ynot
Seriously. Unless you KNOW what you're doing with this (and with respect it's plain that you don't) then buy or rent.
scjb
MagicFX CO2 Jets... well worth the investment if buying, or available from most effects companies if hiring. E2A: pm sent
