While the experience may not be much use as such ie not a qualification, when it comes to interview time, you have something to talk about when asked, "wht have you done apart from A levels, OND, Degree" or whatever.32 years after starting work I still find it a useful discussion point at interviews, and ever since an interview for Strand and Electrosonic 30 years ago or so, I have never had an interview to do with sound or lighting!
