AussieDeputyLX
Im looking for a good hand book to boost my knowledge of electricity etc here in the UK. I have a good grounding already but am looking for a good source of knowledge to take me right through to advanced stuff and also testing procedures, and legislation etc. something that also covers generators would be handy too. any tips of reference material that has been handy to any of you would be great. kerry davies
Welcome, Aussie. The book you seek would be too heavy for this old arthritic git. May I suggest you start where the BR Wiki suggests with this; http://www.hse.gov.uk/pubns/priced/hsr25.pdf and work up, down and sideways from there. Then check out the forum topics in the search function, top right, for stuff like this one http://www.blue-room.org.uk/index.php?showtopic=48171&st=0&p=399779&hl=+electrical%20+books&fromsearch=1entry399779 There is just so much on here already that it is almost not worth building another topic though obviously if you cannot find what you are looking for in the way of answers, the questions you need to ask may be revealed. themadhippy
All those books are fine if you understand the basic theory behind electrickery, however there not much use if you dont know ohms law from flemmmings right hand. The book that helped me most during my collage years was an old electrical engineering encyclopedia, buggered if I can recall the authour or its full title, but it was 4 or 5 volumes from around the 50's in a rather nice dark red cover.
