norty303
Hi I'm looking at some more LED pars for smaller dance events and smaller festival stages. I curerently have a number of Eurolite 10mm LED Par64's which I'm happy with, but could do with something with a bit more punch. I've been looking at some of the newer units with the 3 x 1W tri led units, in particular these:http://www.thomann.de/gb/stairville_mini_stage_par_7x3w_tri_black.htmhttp://www.thomann.de/gb/stairville_led_flood_tri_panel_7x3w_rgb.htm To my mind, these must be the (near) equivalent of the 24 x 1W pars available (7W of each colour versus 8W) but in a much smaller package.I like the look of these because of the price, beam angle and lack of fringing. However, I've got no practical experience of any 1W or 3W pars, so have no idea how they will compare. Can anyone give me their opinions of any 1W pars, or 3W tri-led pars in comparison to the 5mm or 10mm 'cheapy' cans please? I'm happy with subjective comments and 'finger in the air' estimates :) I can buy 4 5mm Par56 for the price of one of those floods - would that be a better option?? thanks
Tigglet
I have 4 x ledj alupar zoomshttp://www.bluearan.co.uk/index.php?id=LDJLEDJ114&browsemode=manufacturer these are great for colour washes we have just used them in a school show. nice and bright and with a zoom function from 10 to 60degrees. not the cheapest available but definately do what it says on the can. I had the 4 units 5m above the floor and they could geve a really good wash of red for the devil fight scene we needed. hope this helps. :)
Ynot
However that unit is NOT a tri-colour LED ...
Tigglet
A tricolour LED version is available http://www.bluearan.co.uk/index.php?id=LDJLEDJ48&browsemode=manufacturer but it only has 18 led units that's 18 watts per colour instead of 24 watts per colour. I know that they are not 100% efficiant it does not have the zoom function which may or may not be a good thing.
KidRay
I have owned the Eurolite 10mm par64 and stairville 7 x 3w units (in the mega tri-bar system)Below are comparison pics with the Eurolite on the left and a Stairville 7 x 3w unit on the right, the Stairvilles are much brighter and have a wider beam angle.http://i216.photobucket.com/albums/cc196/crabspoil/mega-tri-barvseurolite4.jpghttp://i216.photobucket.com/albums/cc196/crabspoil/mega-tri-barvseurolite3.jpghttp://i216.photobucket.com/albums/cc196/crabspoil/mega-tri-barvseurolite2.jpghttp://i216.photobucket.com/albums/cc196/crabspoil/mega-tri-barvseurolite1.jpg

dbuckley
I have owned the Eurolite 10mm par64 and stairville 7 x 3w units (in the mega tri-bar system)Below are comparison pics with the Eurolite on the left and a Stairville 7 x 3w unit on the right, the Stairvilles are much brighter and have a wider beam angle. Are the tribars you have these? Thomann have this unit that looks simerlarly specced to the units on the bar system, but it looks like the bars are ony usable as a bar, they individual lamps cannot come off and be used independently. These 7 x 3W units look very similar to the Colorado tri series...?
KidRay
Are the tribars you have these? The very ones. They look more like the second link in the OP link, down to the flimsy yoke. And yes, the ones on the tri bar cannot be used separately from the bar without some serious rewiring.
Ashley R
So far ive found the higher the wattage (i.e. the higher the lumen output) the better the fixture is at throwing further distances. We have got I think its 10 20x3w Tri RGB LED Multipar fixtures hung in a roof about 8m away from the stage, and they wash the entire stage quite nicely (Its a concert hall approx 25m wide and 10m deep). But I wouldn't really use them in short throw applications due to their limited beam angle. For smaller stages I would go for multiple 10mm LED fixtures to ensure you have even coverage, but this may not give you the 'punch' you are looking for.
