jonathanhill
Are you thinking of these: http://www.dimmer.de/shopping/en-TA-6408.htm Commonly known as egg strobes, although these ones are not that 'egg-shaped'.
kitlane
Another, similar product to look at is Arcline
Jamtastic3
Just to add, Arcline and Pulsar Flexi strobes are strobe 'tubes' that have controllable effects via a 0 - 10v controller usually. The first link and the egg strobes are simple, non controllable, plug and play strobes. peza2010
Good old arc line hey? I still think there effect is great for what they are!
dbuckley
Arcline was one of the great disco efects, now consigned to history as far as I can tell. Its only problem was its fragility. Installed up high in a disco it was fine. Tour the stuff and it got trashed...

peza2010
Not just in history...A rig I work with still has arc line on it...But rightly said about tour it and it will get trashed!

Jamtastic3
Speaking of Arcline, the channel 4 show 'Million Pound Drop' uses loads of it... or it could be Flexi Flash. In any case, it's expensive stuff!
FlashGordon
We used the strobe egg TA-6408´s on We Will Rock You - work fantastic and you can quickly swap a defect lamp. E27 fitting. As you are talking one chain, and the fact that you cant change frequency via a lighting desk, I would reccomend buying lamps with different frequency rates to get a nice effect. (depending on what you want though)
