Brian
TBH, an indoor measurement is worthless. There are too many variables. As to measuring on an Iphone....'A' weighted? 'C' weighted? or something else? Peak or average? What does the mic top out at?
TomHoward
We've just been using two confetti cartridges fired simultaneously, which were co-incided with a champagne bottle pop. They weren't unpleasantly loud - they were positioned approx 6m from audience, at the centre of a traverse stage. Being that they followed the champagne pop may have made people more prepared though as they weren't taken by surprise.
Jivemaster
I wouldn't rest a defence case on an Iphone app!. How loud is too loud depends on the surroundings, in the loud finale of a panto or show with an amplified band, then 100dB is the likely noise of the show for the last five minutes, so a 100dB pyro fits in well. However in a quiet place -home, intense drama show etc then a 100dB SFX may be too loud.
MarkPAman
....Iphone....'A' weighted? 'C' weighted? or something else? Peak or average? Some apps can do all of these, but What does the mic top out at? only about 100 dBAHave to say, that although it's a useful guide to have in my pocket, I agree withI wouldn't rest a defence case on an Iphone app!.
