I need to get my fly and fixed bar load tested. I have used a company before but I am looking to use a different company. Who have you used and are they any good? Please tell your experiences.

Thanks

TV and Theatre Services, Dereham

They'll almost certainly NOT recommend a weight test, but simply inspect and certificate.

Weight testing in many cases serves no real purpose, and is not necessary if the inspectors know their stuff. A 25 tonne crane doesn't need to test itself with a 3 tonne weight. Weight testing can be useful in some cases, but as the weight 'declared' is always much lower than the 'real' capacity, you'd need to vastly over-weight a bar. So if you have 250Kg bars, how much weight would you have to use to load it to full capacity, and would actually doing this be safe - or indeed possible?

Hall Stage (Charles is an occasional visitor to the board).

They also did not recommend load testing when they took on our inspection.

I don't believe there is a specific requirement under LOLER to do so - or I couldn't find one when I trawled though it anyway.

I've just had Stage Electrics in at work and they were great, did all my rigging inspection and NICEIC electrical testing in a day.
