DSA
Hi, At a recent wedding reception venue, there was a nice little (I mean little!) theatre attached. We had a nice concert in there, however I couldn't help noticing the interesting rigging techniques being used. Later I had a look backstage, and took the following photos for your interest. I apologise if you know the venue/use it, but I was amazed at whether their 'installation' was really safe or not... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v291/dsalea/P8150187.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v291/dsalea/P8150192.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v291/dsalea/P8150194.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v291/dsalea/P8150193.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v291/dsalea/P8150189.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v291/dsalea/P8150188.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v291/dsalea/P8150190.jpg Any comments? gareth
Dodgy technical work notwithstanding, it does indeed look like a beautiful little space. In Wales, you say? Being in Wales myself, I'm rather curious - where is it?
Bryson
Have to say I've seen much, much worse. The grelcos in dimmers look fun though. AH, it makes me nostalgic for proper connectors instead of these bloody american jobbies... Is there anything retaining those scaff bars at the top, or are they really just standing in tank traps? Suzette
Looks like there are a couple of boom arms or similar attached to the scaff and then (presumably) attached to the wall somehow, behind the pillars - about a third and then two-thirds of the way up. Or maybe they aren't actually attached to the wall at all???
DSA
Is there anything retaining those scaff bars at the top, or are they really just standing in tank traps? No they were just standing in the traps, with a bungee style thing holding it to the pillar... In Wales, you say? Being in Wales myself, I'm rather curious - where is it?If I was to say that the wedding was in Swansea, and the hotel (to which the theatre is attached) was about 20 miles away, would that help...? Oh and to be honest, I wouldn't recommend the Hotel - it was quite bad (certainly not a Hilton...), and it was haunted. Best Wishes,David
gareth
If I was to say that the wedding was in Swansea, and the hotel (to which the theatre is attached) was about 20 miles away, would that help...?Err ... no, not really. I don't really understand why you're making this rather bizarre attempt at sinister evasiveness - why will you not just tell us the name of the venue rather than beating around this seemingly pointless bush? Just tell us the name of the venue, please.

Just tell us the name of the venue, please.Sorry I don't mean to be a pain...its just that I didn't want to offend anyone if they new the venue well. OK. So its at Craig-y-nos CastleBrecon Road,Pen-y-cae,PowysSA9 1GLWebsite The theatre is called the 'Adelina Patti Theatre' Theres the full details before you ask. It is a really nice room, however some of their rigging leaves a little to be desired in my opinion. Also I will repeat, please don't come running back to me if you stay at the hotel and say its poor....! (Theatre is fine though on its own - but staff wern't exactly helpful when I was there) David

Chris Higgs
I would be interested to know if any of the posters in this thread have the confidence for someone to submit 'technical' photographs of their venue (without notice).

Bryson
I think Chris is implying that every venue-based person here has a "slightly dodgy" bit of rigging somewhere in their building...
