Rob Posted April 14, 2003 Author Posted April 14, 2003 one thing to look for on a multimeter is the level of protection it offers the user if you do something wrong I was advised to spend money on Fused probes, but there's no mention of them on the Fluke website and I know they'll be bloody expensive...
robloxley Posted April 15, 2003 Posted April 15, 2003 One that does true RMS voltage reading is good, useful if you're ever trimming dimmers for example!
PeterT Posted April 16, 2003 Posted April 16, 2003 Had a Cheapy meter once with a dial to select the range. The 230V AC was directly opposite the 9v DC range. I tried to measure mains voltage with the dial at 9V and a lovely glow effect was seen inside the meter. After that it wasn't much good... Went to Maplin, spent £80 on a Fluke 10, never needed anything else. They're solid and dependable and don't fry if you select the wrong range B) Peter
Rob Posted April 29, 2003 Author Posted April 29, 2003 Ok, I've decided to go for the Fluke 110. Does anyone have any alternatives to RS or Maplin who both want £75 plus VAT. That's the RRP, so I don't think I'll do much better...
themadhippy Posted April 29, 2003 Posted April 29, 2003 might be worth given a few electrical wholsalers (city electrical, newey+eyre, wholsale fittings ect) a ring
