steveeeee
Hi all, newbie here. I just found a pair of Millbank 100V speakers in a box under the sink at work (a software company). Nobody there knows what they're for or wants them, so... I've "liberated" them. From what I can tell on Google, they're something to do with PA type stuff. Are they any good? Worth anything? http://www.gramheavy.org.uk/junk/images/ebay/millbank_front.jpg http://www.gramheavy.org.uk/junk/images/ebay/millbank_cone.jpg http://www.gramheavy.org.uk/junk/images/ebay/millbank_back.jpg http://www.gramheavy.org.uk/junk/images/ebay/millbank_label.jpg http://www.gramheavy.org.uk/junk/images/ebay/millbank_trans1.jpg http://www.gramheavy.org.uk/junk/images/ebay/millbank_trans2.jpg Each enclosure measures 10" diameter, the cones themselves are 8" across. Doug Siddons
They are what they say on the tin! They are dual concentric ceiling mount loudspeakers. That mushroom bit in the middle acts as a tweeter and the other part of the cone is your mid. If you wanted to use them for general use I would take the transformer off, put them in cabinet the size of your average ceiling panel and 6" deep, connect a 100 watt 8 ohm power amp to them and enjoy. As to value, not a lottery win!
steveeeee
Oh, I see. The transformer is just to step down from 100V and they're otherwise normal speakers? Cool. I asked about the value as I was looking at putting these in the for sale section and the board rules state I have to put a price on them. But it they're not limited to being mounted in the ceiling in a 100V system I can probably find a home for them. Bit tempted to stick them in the garage ceilling actually... Thanks! Brian
The last new 100v units I sold on eBay went for about £5 each. Oh, and if you take Doug's suggestion of a 100W amp they'll last about 1 second - their rating is closer to 5W.
Simon Lewis
They are dual concentric ceiling mount loudspeakers. I don't think they are true Dual Concentric (as in a separately driven HF within the LF cone). It's likely to be a parastitic HF cone. This tends to vibrate independently of the main cone at high frequencies (thus extending the HF range and improving coverage a little), but there is only one voice coil. Doug Siddons
Simon is right but I didn't think it was worth getting too deep in this one, so not going to argue the toss about power amp ratings, head room, ect
