stillwave
Hi, I would like to use a very old strand mini II which has it's own local analog desk but I would like to add a demux to it. my question is is it possible to have both a analog desk & a demux unit connected to the same dimmers in parrelel and it work? presumably it would be HTP which would be ok for it's use. in this setup it would be controlable from the local end by analog desk & remotely through DMX at the same time. the dimmers control voltage is -15V which I will get demux to suit. johnhuson
Assuming the demux can output the correct voltage then it should work fine, and yes it will work on a HTP basis.
David A
I strongly recommend diode coupling the demux to be sure.
Don Allen
As DavidA says, you need a blocking diode in each channel output to isolate each cicrcuit. Have a look at this circuit to see the diodes in each circuit analogue desk circuit as it will stop the desk feeding into the demux and also prevent any impedance problems as that will affect your control voltages.
