Part for stage box

Hello!

I'm making a couple of stage boxes - but what is this bit called?

Strain-relief? Cable grip? If anyone is kind enough to give a CPC part number - I'd be happy!

Thank you, Adam.

Adam (or anyone else know),

Have you sourced any boxes/enclosures for your project?

I'm looking to put some speaker terminations (speakon & 1/4 J) and have been trying to find some mild steel enclosures. I only need something like 6"x4"x2", but can't seem to find any off-the-shelf.

Anyone seen/know anything suitable please?

Thanks J.

[E]PS: would be nice if I could find something with cut-outs for speakon/jack connectors, but plain boxes would do![/E]

To answer the OP more specifically, there are two parts to the circled item.

The 'Cable Gland' is the large nut assembly that secures the cable to the box.

The 'Strain Relief' is the plastic or metal spiral or braid that prevents the cable being bent too sharply which can be a common cause of cable damage at the stage box end.

Some manufacturer's produce them as a combined product.

There you go, those should take XLR, Speakon and possibly jack (not sure if neutriks do one for the same cutout?)

Edit: ofcourse they do. http://cpc.farnell.com/CN02847/cable-wire-...NEUTRIK-NJ3FP6C

Very many thanks benweblight.

I searched CPC for enclosures, steel boxes etc., but didn't think of the obvious <_<

Thanks again.

J.

Yep, you're right. The Studiospares nut and strain relief come separately but the CPC ones are combined.
