Jivemaster
I've seen the drivers for sale, if you have MSER storage and dont mind paying more for transport than the drivers cost!
slipstream
Outdoor use would be easy, indoor you would have to build something and that brings its own world of issues, I would be inclined to use ice fountains or Le Maitre gerbes for the effect and spin it manually or electrically from below or behind. Wheel drivers by their nature are probably too powerful to use indoors. Start with a cycle wheel and dress it from their Sam
timtheenchanteruk
Hmm, building things with pyros, I think I`ll leave that alone for now, given that the show is for kids age 6-13!, not a good idea. I was just after something different, we are quite limited on some effects due to the height of the stage.
Jivemaster
Given that a gerb suggests round 5 metres as a starting point for safety tests then have you really a 5m radius available thats 10m wide and 10m high!?! Ice fountains on a spinning base with a string to start the motion would be a likely starting point for trials.
scjb
...or if you look back at Brian's post, the saxon is the device you are looking for. Personally I'd give Rodney at Pyrovision a call (google for the number). Be warned, they're not cheap! EDIT: Source provided.
ozbiz44
Yes, Saxons are what you are after. We brought some in from China, but they need a good 5 metres clearance every which way! As suggested, takes some "ordinary" fountains or ice fountains and mount them on a speed adjustable wheel set up.Much safer.

itinerant baker
OK smart arse - are there any non pyro catherine wheels (apart from the sweets of the same name)?
Jivemaster
There is nothing I've ever seen! But a DIY project with a small motor and some metalised polyester background material may come close to your aim.
Wuddy
I reckon you could build a reasonable non-pyro substitute by attaching arrays of LED christmas lights to a a rotating framework, like a giant version of those little plastic battery op gismos they sell at pantos.
