Trunker
Don't know if this is supposed to be in here, so plaese feel free to move it at any time. Is there a program that will convert AVI files to MPEG, or is there a free piece of software on the net that will play these files? Realplayer don't seem to like them at all. MarkPAman
If you have a peesee the med1a player will play avi, and m0vie maker can re render it into mpeg. I would be surprised if the equivalent mac applications didn't do the same.

James
What codec is in the AVI wrapper? - can't give a sensible answer without that bit of information However Quicktime Pro is very good at simple conversions - you can turn the free Quicktime player into Quicktime Pro by regestering it online for a very low fee. Beyond that you are looking at something like Sorenson or even more advanced Anystream,
Bryson
If you just want a player that'll play it, then it's worth giving VLC a go. It has more features than I have ever found, and it opens almost anything you throw at it..
