richard
Hello I have in the past seen some nice metal plates with a GU5.3 ceramic attatched which allow you to mount MR16 lamps onto set without having to have a whole birdie shell. Does anyone know where I might be able to buy some of these from? Thanks Richard
PDD
Do you mean professional ones, or just something like:http://www.screwfix.com/sfd/I/cat/64/p1324564_l.jpgScrewfix I've used those ones, or ones very similar (cheapest possible)... Max lamp size is 35W on a flammable surface which wasn't a problem in my case. Just cut a 65mm hole in the set, pop it through, watch your fingers on the nasty snappy bit, wire it up and bob's your uncle.
pscandrett
I have in the past seen some nice metal plates with a GU5.3 ceramic attatched which allow you to mount MR16 lamps onto set without having to have a whole birdie shell. We've bought some recently for just this reason - we've made three perspex boxes that light up three colours (one per box!), using festoon/40W lights for the sides and a few 50W GU10 lamps for uplighitng the people standing on them. I think we got the mountings from CEF. They have holes in the mountings and you can screw them to the wood. I might even be able to find one - I think I've got my camera with me too. Photos might follow. Regards Peter Edit: Pics:http://www.scandrett.net/bits/GU10/GU10-1.jpg http://www.scandrett.net/bits/GU10/GU10-2.jpg

We deliberately wanted 240V so we didn't need transformers etc... Good luck.
richard
I would try CEF, only their website is so appalling it is impossible to get any information from them!!! Thanks for the help anyway - I will keep on looking! Richard
pscandrett
I would try CEF, only their website is so appalling it is impossible to get any information from them!!!Yes, their website is shocking; their catalogue isn't great and IME their customer service is rubbish and the staff resent you being there. However, they are just up the road from the office and consequently get a bit of our business as their prices are reasonable...
