Andy! Posted January 27, 2004 Posted January 27, 2004 Hey, Does anyone have any ideas on how I can make a moving light by using parcans and maybe some like mirrors or something.
Potassium Neuf Posted January 27, 2004 Posted January 27, 2004 I believe there is a 'fixture' called a Motor - Yoke, into which you can insert a range of generic lamps and give them pan/tilt and other parameters. :** laughs out loud **: I found this on the web .. Motor-Yoke
James Posted January 27, 2004 Posted January 27, 2004 Or there is a bucket like thing you can get / hire called a pancan that is a moving mirror attachment to a parcan. It also includes a pseudo colour changer as well, Localy to me Point Source hire them out. James http://www.pslx.co.uk/images/pancan1.gif
SceneMaster Posted January 27, 2004 Posted January 27, 2004 Who makes the pancan? Do you have a web address? SceneMaster
Bryson Posted January 27, 2004 Posted January 27, 2004 Having never used a Pancan, (they sound pretty horrid!) could you explain what a pseudo colour changeris? Does it just pretend to change colour? :** laughs out loud **: Sincerely, Confused Of Croydon PS: 1000 posts! EDIT: Disappointingly unpleasant title for 1000 posts, too...
Thirdtap Posted January 27, 2004 Posted January 27, 2004 From what I was told about the pancans they could be very sensitive. Being analouge they required a very long run of cable to go from the unit to the control room. Then during the show.... a slight move to the right and one would twitch and the other would be woosh lighting up the far wall.
Suzette Posted January 27, 2004 Posted January 27, 2004 Used pancans many years ago, and were tricky to control ... as thirdtap says it was either no movement or a whoosh !! The ones I used had a joystick control, maybe they are better to operate now!
James Posted January 27, 2004 Posted January 27, 2004 pseudo colour changer: Imagine a moving mirror mounted on top of a parcan. Instead of inserting a scroller between the can and the mirror this device allows you to rotate the mesh around the head. (see picture already posted) So you can have three colours up there and rotate them so the one you want is in the beam. Of course if you do this you have to track the color with the pan of the unit or you will miss the chosen colour. On and these are -10v not DMX....... James
Andy! Posted January 27, 2004 Author Posted January 27, 2004 Ohhh :** laughs out loud **: Ok thanks alot Everyone I will look into them.
