Salazar
I've just noticed Strand has a new website up and running. A few small mistakes here and there but at least they're showing some interest. http://www.strandlighting.com/
IRW
The old strand logo is nowhere to be seen...
tom_the_LD
How long ago was it that strand got brought by Genlyte?
Oovis
It's also interesting that the latest press release on there, dated 30 January 2007, is trumpeting the show being programmed on a 550I desk..... Sad they don't build the things anymore
andy_s
also interesting that in the lists of dealers and service centres etcetera, the UK doesn't feature.
mac.calder
It is also interesting that you are redirected to a domain re-direction service (http://rpd06.tempdomainname.com/rpd0604/)
mar
The European region, headquartered in the United Kingdom, has offices in Berlin, London, Moscow, Paris, and Rome and serves all of Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. Yet as Andy_s says, when you look down the list of Europe/Africa/Middle East Dealers then UK does not feature. Check out the Sales/Marketing Contacts list, some of the numbers have +44 prefixes so must be UK based.
JMC
There is now a Strand Lighting Europe Ltd, and I believe they're in the process of setting up shop

DMX Will
I like the new look. Shame about the logo as said. Still doesn't have enough information just like the last one
Just Some Bloke
It certainly does seem strange that they have service centres in Croatia, Macedonia, Slovenia, Kosovo, Luxenbourg, Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Russia, Switzerland, South Africa, Norway, Iceland, Greece, Finland, France, Czech Republic, Poland, Serbia Montenegro, Denmark and Italy as well as dealerships in all of those plus Bulgaria, Kazakhstan, Brunei, Romania, Austria, Slovak Republic and Hungary but nothing whatsoever in the UK. The moral of the story seems to be: if you want to use Strand move to Kazakhstan.
JMC
Hehe... Not that I'd actually want much of what they're currently punting on that site. So far I've been unable to find any software etc for 300/500 series consoles. Hrm. Fixture librarys anyone? Support for a large number of the older products seems to also have disapeared.. And yes, I'm mourning the loss of the old logo. Shame, I really liked it!
James
Hmmm Just noticed this line A new graphical offline editor that runs in Windows, and is compatible with Strand 300 and 500 Series show files. Has anyone tried that?!? James
Richard Bunting
So far I've been unable to find any software etc for 300/500 series consoles. Hrm. Fixture librarys anyone? Support for a large number of the older products seems to also have disapeared.. If you go to www.strandlighting.com/EU/Index.htm, the old pages are still there, with the support for the old product. However, as they are obviously in the process of moving to a new server (hence the re-direction), I wouldn't like to say for how much longer. So if you need a back-up copy of 500 series OS then I suggest you download a copy today. You can still get a copy of the 500 manual on the new site, but little else. HTH Richard PS bring back the gongman !! PPS rumour has it that Strand were asking UK dealers to place v. large stock orders, and so far no one has signed up for it. Until some dealers have put their hands in their pockets, there will be little chance of setting up a formal UK operation for a while yet, I think. Neil Hampson
PS bring back the gongman !! http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f86/neilhampson/Rank_organisation_green_logo.jpg But that wasn't even Strand's logo, it belonged to Rank., The once proud owner of Odeon, Butlins, Pinewood but to name a few...That said, I think it was a better logo than the swirled 's' I even prefer to the old Strand Electric one. Edit; The gongman lives on:http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f86/neilhampson/rank_logo.gif(They appear to be heavily into the gaming industry, listing Grosvener casinos and Mecca Bingo as part of the group)
