Hi all, well dreams dreams dreams, In an ideal world an Xl8 or a digi venue and a nice D&bor funktion 1 system. But back to reallty just being able to do more mixing then fault finding! Lead singers that were'nt deaf would be good as well.

After yesterday: I wish everything just worked - all cables were 100% fine, all points actually terminated at the patch bay where they say they terminated etc instead of plugging something in to find that it is a faulty point, and you need to run down and choose another instead.

So if I was to get (insert insanely large ammount of cash) to spend on the venue... getting everything to work (and documented) would be step one.

Here's what I want in a realistic world (although most won't happen with my tiny £500 budget):

-Repair the Soundcraft Live 4-2 desk so the PFL and headphone socket works.

-Get some proper monitor wedges instead of using MR-10s that don't have the angle.

-Get at least 4 more nice Beyer boom mic stands

-Buy some Senny E845 mid range dynamic mics and a couple of C1000s to replace our 5 Behringer nightmares.

-Bye more channels of compression for said mics

-Get accoustic treatment for the hall so it stops sounding like a toilet

-Install 3ph to the Act 6 dimmers so they can run at 60A per pack

-Get an FX processor

-Install 63A socket SR

-Upgrade the GSX to at least a Fat Frog

-Fix the tallescope

-Get some decent audio cables so we can chuck out the horrid budget crap

-Get more TRS

-Get a new spigot for our Solo fspot.

-Repair the fspot dimmer so it doesnt flicker

-Get a channel on the LD90 repaired

Following on from Mr Steve, in an unrealistic world:

- a Midas XL8

-some nice JBLs or RCFs

-alot of Mac 250s + ....

-....with a frog 2 or avo pearl to control them

-a proper stage (with a tamper-proof curtain reel)

-get at least a dozen more LX channels

-run a high-voltage electrical charge through the booms (that'll teach 'em kids)

and, a lifetime supply of various tapes :P

Toilets.

A Skymaster - the Minimax tower I got last year is great but too laborious to erect for just a quick focus/lamp replacement

New borders - let's hear it for grey pleats!

Assistants - my only one leaves in a fortnight and wasn't as useful this year after he became Head Boy (Management!).

More events - only two a year at present.

I'm in a school and can probably get all but the first; and the last only if I devise them.

(To save you the bother of asking our hall doesn't have any lavvies so our audiences have to trek down corridors looking for relief. Men end up having to use the disabled pupils' toilet which is a bit low on the ground, and women have to use the wagging girls' smoking room and pee in their ashtrays)

There are other bits and pieces that would be nice but nothing as urgent. I've written out a longish wish list which I'll give to the Head next term.

He’s got high apple pie, in the sky hopes"
