Ynot
After the various polite exchanges of facts & opinions about computer controlled explosions, thought this might be of interest;Interesting...But hasn't it been decided that fireworks (as opposed to pyro) is OUTSIDE this forum?? Guest lightnix
The jury is still kind of out on that one, Ynot; there was a quick mods dicussion on the subject this morning, which led to the reopening of Jivemaster's recent firework thread. My own opinion (FWIW) is that as long it's in an entertainment / production / show context, there's no reason why "fireworks" shouldn't be discussed in Effects and Pyro, although we may well draw the line at questions about displays only, where there is no other aspect to the event. Jivemaster
In the UK Fireone (dot com) is a favoured system, but some shows are still fired by a simple nail board or the mad dash with portfire. Especially as the good systems cost big money and there is only one 5th Nov each year. The risk analysis for fireworks is different from the RA for pyro because of the magnitude of the numbers! A safety zone of 100m radius is normal for fireworks but rather inconvenient in a theatre, Likewise keeping the exclusion zone clear for 12 hours is a bit limiting in a theatre but quite usuall for fireworks!
