  1. 30m is a rather long run for UHF antenna, without going to big fat cable and fancier antennae. A short 3-5m cable taking the antennae above head height is a good compromise, and a fairly standard setup, just get them above the big water filled meat bags (sorry, cast members) that eat all the RF.
  2. Just about every production company will have a pile of scaff in various lengths. Scaff towers, just go for the nearest/cheapest - not many prod companies will hold them as it's not worth trying to compete with the general access hire companies. You may want to pay a little extra to get one not covered in paint/plaster/render etc.
  3. IPS in MK stock the chauvet digital festoon.
  4. If you manufacture it, then timber sheet with wood batten to strengthen, a hole saw, then fill the holes with festoon. Use addressable festoon for added pixel/colour funtimes.

    LED tape

Wine and nipples? Pulling assets? Goodness me!
  6. I had sent them an email but heard nothing back. I'll prod them again, it may have got lost over christmas. Thanks for confirming their helpfulness :)
  7. We've got a massive install of GDS Arcs across 5 spaces, but weren't left a programming tool and now need to reconfigure a few bits to better match how we're using the spaces. Don't suppose anyone has/knows the location of a programming tool that could be borrowed/hired for a few days?
  8. Behringer and Tascam have options with 8 analogue out on balanced jacks. I suspect you'll struggle to find them on XLR, even our expensive RME interface has the outputs on jacks. You could use an interface with ADAT then one of behringers ADAT-XLR boxes.

    Lighter Sub

You may be able to swap 1 big sub for 2 smaller subs, so maybe more total weight but each lift would be easier. Swapping a big sub for a single smaller sub will (within the same kit level/expense) produce less bass.
  10. Another recommendation for IPS. They do all sorts of strange constructions in Layher and scaff.
  11. We’ve got a 3 circuit light box left over from our last season. 1 box with 3 compartments, perspex face painted black with clear lettering - Live/Cheer/Applause (I’d need to check the precise wording). Each compartment is internally lit with white led tape. You’d need your own controller for the LED tape. If you’re interested send me a DM and I’ll try to get some photos and see if the set dept want to keep it or not.
  12. At the quick and dirty end of solutions - a sock. Use a small black sock and add a drawstring if you’re feeling fancy.
  13. We've drifted well off topic, but my preference is as per Martin's LE1200s - underneath with routed channels to give options for cable exits. After that, give me a socket on each side. But to be honest, I can't say I've ever chosen my monitors by cable exit positions. Back on topic, not come across the HHs, but the similar Behringers and Thomann's own Achats are both perfectly usable for the price.

    Litedeck

We've got bored of lifting steeldeck around and are in the market for a collection of used litedeck - if you've got some to shift send me a message!
  15. Brum Hippodrome have some nice trolleys for stage weights, that could easily have locking added - don't have any photos though sadly. And yes, they do wander, and in receiving venues it can be helpful to count them in and out rather than letting visitors help themselves, to ensure you get yours back on the get out.
  16. I'm working to a policy of not buying any further tungsten based fixtures (practicals excepted), and actively pushing for investment into replacing with LED. I don't think tungsten lamps will disappear imminently, but the less common ones might end of line soon and go up in price (seen the price of a P28S recently?). I'd certainly want my management aware that we should be planning on a significant investment within ten years, whether in piecemeal stages or as a one hit overhaul. There's also a factor of social responsibility and marketing - do you become liable for bad press if you stick with tungsten 'too long'? Is there valuable marketing to be had in shouting about your new 'eco-friendly' lighting installation?
  17. And critically, the pinout is very different to other demuxes that use otherwise identical cables.
  18. One exists, I’ve seen it and used it to prep shows heading there. The in house crew are good and personable, I’m sure a phone call would sort you out.
  19. I worked for a school that did multiple shows a year, plus wet/production hires of the halls/theatre. We sat down to do a proper business analysis and it worked out much cheaper to own a basic kit (4 receivers, with 4 handhelds and 4 packs), then supplement as needed from hires. We’d use 4 channels almost weekly but only needed more than that once a year - simply wasn’t worth spending the cash for them to take up storage space we didn’t have.
  20. Works great for box truss. Less ideal for those of us on ladder truss or single bars. I’ve ratcheted things like CAT5 baluns on before, and also have some bits of ply with two hookclamps on, making a hangable shelf that things like DMX LED drivers can be screwed or cable tied onto. Wouldn’t be too hard to make something similar to take a lightweight 1U case - or look at some of the projector cages/trays that could do the same job without being so homebrew in appearance.
  21. Hi folks, Can anyone recommend a good dealer for accessories for the Kleu staging (rebranded and sold by many - its the aluminium profile stuff)? We're after either a bucketful of the expanding 'klemmfix' gadgets, or (as the klemmfix's seem to exist solely to disintegrate) the newer alternative plastic underclip. Any tips/hints on better alternatives are very welcome!
  22. At my fulltime job I use my discretion, generally full blacks if onstage, smartish black top if at FOH. The venues I casual at require blacks (used to be branded, but this seems to have died a death) for most shows, long sleeved blacks for more formal shows, black suit for orchestra shows. Most of this is moot as I live in black clothes anyway... On the few occasions I’ve had personalised stuff made as a batch I’ve gone with my surname and if required a suitable job title - silly nicknames aren’t really for me.
  23. Hard hat, quad spanner, multitool, selection of proper tools (small and large flat and cross head screwdrivers, snips and pliers), cutlery, water bottle, mug, teabags. Don't tend to take any connectors or adapters, as the jobs I work on are spec'd to have everything they need.

    Speaker fuses

Our RAs firmly laid the responsibility of looking after hearing with the teacher in charge. Had the responsibility been with me I would have pushed for a formula sound limiter setup.
