Tom
A quick recommendation please for some (free) software to play back a simple list of MP3 music files for a one off cabaret style show tonight.Normally use Qlab but on a PC Laptop.Just need something to play be able to set up a cue list and play individual tracks on the push of a button -no fades / routing etc required. Many ThanksT
MarkPAman
For a one off, how about you just load them into audacity? You'd need to manually select the next track each time, but other than that it should be a good free solution?

Worth noting that on recent versions of Windows you'll need to convert your MP3s to WAVs before using Multiplay, there's a known bug for Multiplay with the MP3 decoder bundled into windows. Just Some Bloke
I would look at SCS as it is quite similar to QLab in the way it works. There's a free version but if you like it there is a paid version that isn't that expensive and allows bigger shows and more bells and whistles. https://showcuesystems.com/cms/

I've used it for years. The only thing that caught me out is if you use a USB audio device, you need add it to the laptop before you start SCS or it's a tad fiddly to find out where to select the correct output!
