Dexter1210
does anyone know if a normal VHS video machine has a tv signal receiver built in? I am wanting to connect the video machine to a projector to be able to watch terrestrial t.v.

J Pearce
As far as I understand it, if you are going to receive and demodulate a TV signal you need a license, regardless of the viewing equipment.
paulears
no - just having the apparatus that could do it is enough - it doesn't have to even be plugged in!
JimWebber
Let's not forget you can get a discount on your TV licence, not sure how much, but I think it's around £10.00 (Go on Guys you know you want to prove me wrong ;-)) To qualify for this stupendous discount you only have to be blind, and not able to see it.... tonymaslen
Do I need a licence? If you use a TV or any other device to receive or record TV programmes (for example, a VCR, set-top box, DVD recorder or PC with a broadcast card) - you need a TV Licence. You are required by law to have one. http://www.tvlicensing.co.uk/information/index.jsp#link1
