AKG C747 alternative

I'm a big fan of the JTS mics. My own carbon microboom is my go-to lectern mic for when there's not the chance to clamp to the lectern.

An AKG CK33 on a GN15 (or 30) comes in a bit cheaper than a 747. They're a nice piece of kit.

747s are balanced in the XLR connector which is a couple of metres from the mic. That is why they are more prone to interference from mobile phones. I preferred the Audio Technica 935 on lectern duty but that is no longer manufactured.

We have 747's for spaces where we're engineering the event and they're awesome. In unattended spaces like most of our lecture theatres we used to use the AT935 as well but have now moved to the 925 on a 6" gooseneck which is tiny but picks up really well and sounds great. They do table mount or XLR versions - worth a look.
