We divide our time between contracting work and developing our own products in-house for distribution to a huge international client base.

Job Summary
The Fixture Database Support Technician will work on the Fixture Database Service, which provides fixture data for some of the entertainment lighting industry's biggest names, including ETC, MA Lighting and Chroma Q. You will work under the direction of the Fixture Database Manager, liaising with clients to fulfil support requirements in a timely manner and assisting the team to maintain and develop the fixture database.

Key Responsibilities

  • Creating, updating, and testing fixture definitions for use in lighting consoles
  • Correcting fixture definitions as errors are reported or as the data model is updated
  • Providing support for clients, including lighting console and fixture manufacturers
  • Providing QA for internal tools including, but not limited to, application testing and development of test cases

Essential Skills

  • A technical background in the entertainment industry with a bias toward lighting
  • Experience using lighting controllers and fixtures
  • Good analytical skills and the ability to think about data in terms of a model, and to break down complex structures into simpler components
  • Able to work independently under the guidance of a manager, and as part of a team to meet deadlines

Desirable Extras

  • Experience using media servers and server projectors
  • Experience using common software development tools e.g., text editors, command line interfaces, version control systems, etc.
  • Experience with scripting languages or common markup languages
  • Experience working in technical support
  • STEM qualifications - any level
  • Any related events/theatre/lighting qualifications
