Enjoyed the 2021 Richard Dimbleby lecture by Professor Dame  Sarah Gilbert - who detailed the development of the Oxford Covid vaccine. She spoke for about an hour without any visible prompting - and seemed to keep her eyes on the audience.  Was there a clever system in use - or is she simply a really good speaker?

Well worth watching - it is available on the BBC iPlayer - and doubtless other platforms.

I was sitting in a hospital car park today and the second of the four Reith Lectures on AI appeared on Radio 4.  Worth a listen just to see how common or garden tech we already use can combine into a very personally targeted autonomous weapon for pennies. Very interesting but very scary.

Thanks for both tips. I gave up with the Reith Lectures a few years ago when they went through a bit of a trough. I usually avoid anything labelled Dimbleby but I will look this one out.

Not seen the lecture in question but having worked on a few lectures seeing someone present who is an expert in their field and passionate about it is something else. I wouldn't be surprised if there was hardly any tech there at all and it was just that they're that good.

This year's Reith lectures are well-worth a listen to. 9.00 is maybe not the best time for serious concentration, but that's what iPlayer is for🙂
