Seems sensible and cost effective for the exhibitors and visitors

Agreed. Visitor numbers will be down on a pre-covid year so it makes sense to combine the two.

With ABTT being in a distinct, separate area of the hall, it'll be interesting to see where some exhibitors decide place their stands.

Not been to a decent exhibition for years!

The AC Lighting show in Leeds is normally pretty good - a chance to interact with the companies as an individual rather than having to represent a business to have more than 2 minutes, a good range of seminars and a good opportunitiy to bump into people you've not seen for ages!

Edit: Oops, it is of course now PLASA North and has been for a few years now! My point still stands though.

Not ideal for stand builders/suppliers/venue staff etc

Possibly no worse than having two separate events at half the size, or only one of the two going ahead.

Cash-strapped exhibitors that would be at both in a "normal" year may be able to stretch to a presence at the combined show, whereas otherwise they'd do neither.

It'll be interesting to see how trade shows evolve over the next few years. I remember Plasa in the years prior to the financial crash, and whilst there were many spectacular stands, it was ruinously expensive for exhibitors. Zero88's hilarious move to a pub round the corner from Earl's Court was an imaginative response to the situation.

Everyone's fed up with online - there'll be an appetite to see products and vendors in the flesh once it's safe to do so. But budgets will be tighter than ever. If organisers play things right, the shows could flourish. Overcharge, and you'll end up with the same handful of large brands and very little else - hardly a compelling proposition.
