Suitable subs for powermate 600?

I know nothing about matching speakers to mixer. I have an old dynacord powermate 600 and 2 EV sx 300’s. Need to buy subs. I need to use it for a function band, can’t afford bigger desk atm. I need to get as much out of it as possible. If I use active speakers will that increase the volume? I’m thinking to keep the ev’s and get active subs. Would that work? Could recommend suitable subs please? Thanks

Some subs are more musical than others, some suit different playing styles. Don't forget that your band sound is what the client is paying for.

 

It's easy to find subs that accept line level input, take the bass they need through crossover, and send the mid and top signal to another amp (or powered speaker).
