ekul1978 Posted November 30, 2018 Posted November 30, 2018 I'm looking for some help on a strobe I have just found. while rummaging through cupboards at work I've come across an old Giga strobe FL-2000 but can seem to find any documentation/manual for it. I have plugged it in and using the on-board speed dial I get a clicking sound (as you would expect) but no strobe output. Found a silver box controller with it too and connected that up using the 1/4" jack for signal but again no luck there. The lamp looks ok though, so I'm a little confused as to what's wrong with it.
gyro_gearloose Posted November 30, 2018 Posted November 30, 2018 If its a Geni Giga strobe then this manual might help. The strobe uses two DMX channels: one for speed and the other for intensity. As for why you're getting no light out of it, the electronics or the strobe tube may be damaged, which might be why the unit ended up in a cupboard...
ekul1978 Posted December 4, 2018 Author Posted December 4, 2018 Thanks for that gyro - I will have a look. Yeah I guess that may well be the reason why. My predecessor said it was there but never said anything about it not working and I forgot about it. Hopefully I can get it fixed as its a lot better than the small thing we have at the moment. Luke
alistermorton Posted December 4, 2018 Posted December 4, 2018 Be careful troubleshooting it. There's a lot of energy stored in a strobe's main capacitor.
