O Marisquino Festival

300 injured as wooden pier collapses at O Marisquino music festival in Spain.

 

From various reports and the satellite view it appears to have been a boardwalk or dock rather than what we normally think of as a pier. One Spanish report claims the DJ was getting the crowd to jump up and down which reminds me of a Christian festival in the UK where jumping "up and down for Jesus" destroyed the grandstand scaffolding.

 

E2A This also reminds me of the incident where they risk assessed everything they could think of before bringing in a crane for a lift only to forget it was over an "underground" car park. The crane went through in slow motion destroying several cars below reminding us to make sure we know what we are standing, building, jumping up and down on.
