jmdh
Hi, it looks like you asked the same question in this thread: http://www.blue-room.org.uk/index.php?showtopic=69889&st=0&p=555023If you tell us about what you've tried so far and what you're trying to achieve (including the responses on that thread and what's not working, we'll be able to help you much more easily. Simon Lewis
you are no help We are asking questions because we want and need to know the problems you are encountering - so as to give useful and accurate advice. You have an active monitor. That usually implies it's being used for foldback - hence the earlier advice for you to connect an aux output of the desk (either a 12 or 16 channel Cerwin Vega) to the loudspeaker using a jack lead (the "line in" socket is a 'combination' socket can accept both jack plugs and XLR plugs). If you are having problems connecting these items, can you explain what you have tried or what issues you have?If you have connected the two but aren't happy with the sound you are getting out of the speaker, is this to do with the way it's controlled on the desk or the quality of sound itself? There are quite a few variables, and without more information it's hard to be any more helpful...

Simon Lewis
OK.. On the desk output connection area, there should be a pair of balanced jack sockets marked 'left' and 'right'. It's these that should be connected to your FOH speakers. There is also a socket marked 'aux send'. It's an unbalanced connection but that should be OK unless you have a long distance between the desk and the foldback speaker. Make sure your powered wedge is connected to the aux out. Once the channel input gain is set correctly, the FOH speakers are controlled by the channel faders and left/right master faders. The foldback speaker should be controlled by the channel's aux knob (with the adjacent switch set to 'pre') and the aux send knob in the master section. If you want the level of the foldback wedge to change with the channel fader setting, you can put the switch into the 'post' position. Usually, foldback is set to "pre" but it depends what you need that speaker to do...
sandall
I would just add to what Simon says - Take your Master faders down, then adjust your Aux Send Master (& the Level control on your wedge) for the volume you want on stage. Then bring up your Master faders to set FoH level.. NB: If you want the same mix in your wedge as for FoH, first set all your Channel Aux knobs (set to "post") to Full before setting the Aux Send knob. Patience of a saint, Simon. As shown on the diagram on p21 of the manual I referenced (and explained) in the original thread: Main Output and Aux (set to pre-fader). Raymond - that diagram on p21 of the manual, do the connections for Main Speakers and Monitor Speakers make sense, or is there some other part of the setup that you need help with? Does Simon's explanation of the front panel controls to go with this wiring make sense or do you need more assistance with this part?
Alec
On the desk output connection area, there should be a pair of balanced jack sockets marked 'left' and 'right'. It's these that should be connected to your FOH speakers. ....[And more]Simon's described it perfectly. Also, you could do worse than read the manual - pages 6-9 cover the controls. It's quite possible from your (as always, limited) description that you're plugging the monitor into the desk's main output or control room output sockets. A common rookie mistake. Using the aux sends for monitoring is the right way to this if you want an independent mix in the monitors, but does require you to be slightly more clued up - use the aux sends per channel, the master aux send, and plug into the aux send socket. does a really good job of explaining this (although he never turns up the master aux send - which on his desk is to the right of the channel aux sends. And, as a tip, you seem to have been disappointed at the "lack of helpfulness" in this and many other previous posts. The best way to get help is to be very clear about what you're trying to do, and then respond to those who ask for more information. They're really not trying to be confrontational!
