Theatermeister
Hi I have a problem with a futurelight mh 640. it shows 'heat' L On. But the lamp is not on. Could it be the ignitor? Do you have any suggestions?http://www.blue-room.org.uk/public/style_emoticons/default/blink.gifhttp://www.blue-room.org.uk/public/style_emoticons/default/sad.gif
gyro_gearloose
What has happened is that the unit has tried to strike the lamp, detected that hasn't turned on, and then assumed that this is because the lamp is too hot. It doesn't do hot re-strikes. If the lamp is good, check the wiring, check the relay on the main PCB, and then try swapping an ignitor from a known working unit if you've got one. niclights
Failure of the photodiode that detects the lamp strike is very common on these units. I would be looking at that.
gyro_gearloose
Hadn't thought of that one. Since the complete photodiode board will be hard to get hold of, does anyone have an RS/Farnell/etc part number for a suitable replacement diode? Don Allen
Have a look at this Blue Room article from 2013 about Photo Sensors which helps.
