Lanta laser fault help.

I have a pair of Lanta sapphire laser effect lights. One of them works ok but the other emits no laser light. There is a red indicator light on the front of the unit that works that stays on, but on the faulty unit it goes off just when the laser on the other Unit comes on. ( They are both supposed to come on) Above this light is a symbol that looks like a rectangle with a solid block in the middle of it. Is this a symbol that means laser diode? I am guessing that the laser diode has gone and I am guessing also that the indicator light is there as a warning light to let the user know that the laser diode is goosed! Am I right? Can this be fixed or is it a bin job?Thanks in advance.
