  1. Thank you to all who have taken the time to reply to my post about the marveled. I have decided to put it on ebay as a spares or repair. I am almost positive it is a busted control unit. I had it given so I have absolutely nothing to lose. I have one of these lights anyway but it is an american dj version and its all plastic so very light and it is a room filler so no worries there. So I have Wash lighting and a bit of movement so it is all good! Bob
  2. I have had the light in bits checking for obvious stuff like loose connections etc but cannot find any to be honest that's why I am thinking it's a faulty control unit. I might be wrong!
  3. I have been given an acme marveled disco light. When I first apply power all the led lights illuminate and I get 4 or 5 ( I cannot remember exactly how many) flashes. The led lights do not come on again. Is this a sign of a bad function controller? If it helps when powered up the led readout function controller illuminates as it should, the mode led lights light up as they should just the main led lights do not do anything.
  4. Yes its a dots n spots type disco light you are absolutely right. The previous owner of the light had glued it in place and used a funny yellow coloured glue to hold it in place. Luckily, as you quite rightly say, I can see which side the glue is on and to anybody reading this the 'rough' side goes towards the inside of the light. So the smooth side of the plastic lens is outward facing. As standard, the manufacturer uses 'bend over' very small bits of metal to hold the plastic lens in place. These are spot welded to the front panel of the light. Whoever thought of this idea must have been out for a few too many beers at dinner time. Because in time these bend over tabs snap off! They are crap! Hence the need to glue the plastic lens in place. What a load of rubbish! Not a good item to buy on the second hand market because I bet that 9 out of 10 of them have issues with the lenses falling out. Usually inwards. The lens is bigger than the hole it is laughingly 'attached' to.
  5. I should know the answer to this. But I confess I dont. I have a disco light fitted with a fresnel lens. The lens has fallen out. I wish to refit it. My question is this. Is the smooth side of the lens facing outward or is it facing inwards? I am under the impression that the lens is a fresnel type because one side of it is rough I think this may be the 'fresnelled' side. Please don't laugh. Bob
  6. Yup :) Any Alto dealers in your part of the world? Yes no problem, I will get it in for checking out. I have been using my trusty passive speakers and my kxr1500 amplifier whilst my active speakers have been off poorly. I forgot how heavy they are! Surely it must keep me fitter all that lugging about! Bob
  7. Thank you for your help . am going to check it again. Might be something daft like a crap connection somewhere. Watch this space! Thank you for your help . Am going to check it again. Might be something daft like a crap connection somewhere. Watch this space! Ok have tried it again using different cables and bypassing the mixer. (straight from my phones 3.5mm jack. I can hear the tweeter but its intermittent to be honest. By turning up the volume a bit on the speaker then turning it back down to where it was seems to make the sound come back through the tweeter. still no sound at all coming from the 15" Driver. So am guessing its an amplifier fault. I dont know how to test the output of the amplifier with the multimeter if I am honest. Take it to someone who knows what they are doing is the next step then?
  8. Hi all am hoping someone can help. I have a pair of Alto TS115A active speakers and one of them is not working. I have checked the main 15 inch driver and it seems to be ok, I have put a 9 volt battery across the terminals and the cone moves and there are no horrible grating noises when I push down on the edges of the cone. I have not checked with a multimeter because I do not know how to. When I play music through the speaker there is no sound but I can hear the tweeter although it is very quiet. Does this sound like a blown amplifier? The speaker was working at the last gig but when I tried it then it had this problem. Do amplifiers tend to die when left alone or can anyone tell me how to check with a multimeter. I have access to a multimeter its just I do not know how to use one. Thank you in advance. Bob
