Modge
It seems that a download mirror for the mac edition of handbrake, which I know many of you will use, was recently compromised. If you downloaded it between the 2nd and the 6th of May then you need to check the hash and possibly go through a (fairly simple) disinfection routine. Hellmobi
If you download handbrake from some third party website of course your pc may get infected with virus and malware. You must go to handbrake's official website( handbrake.fr), or some famous downloading websites likehttp://download.cnet.com/windows/. And about HandBrake safe downloading you can refer to this article: http://www.videoconverterfactory.com/tips/is-handbrake-safe.html, which gives more choices. It would be great if you filled in a bit more of your profile and maybe introduced yourself on the 'What do you do?' thread in The Crew Room. No. This was from the official website. The official website uses two download mirrors to shared the load. One of these two mirrors was compromised and the download changed to install malware. Thus during the compromised period you had a 50/50 chance of being infected.

pjb304
A competing product that only seems to offer downloads for windows, including the extremely popular "Windows Viara". How it is a suitable replacement for an OSX tool I'm not sure... EDIT: SPaG
