StuartS
Another Mac compatible offering perhaps worth a look is from Chromateq, a French concern. Two software options, ProDMX and LED Player, and a number of DMX interface options, available I believe through KAM lighting. They claim to be usable for live performances although I have yet to test it in amger, but primarily they are aimed at the architectural market where sequences run without human intervention, and the dongles have internal memory for this, which I suppose could be used for backup if the computer goes down. I find the graphical interface quite refreshing.
gyro_gearloose
You could always install Windows 10 onto your Mac by using boot camp. You could then try out any Windows-based lighting software to see if that fits your needs. You can download Windows from Microsoft, and you won't need a product key to install it.
