TallPaul
Where is the best place to order tool lanyards from? The ones I can find on the web all seem to be either 6" long, or extremely expensive. Paul

the kid
I got 3 free ones as a "sample" from a lanyard company. How do you meen "tool lanyards"?
TallPaul
These are lanyards that attach to tools to reduce the risk of them falling when working at height. It is likely that a risk assesment for using tools at height would include the use of lanyards as a control measure in many cases.

Suzette
Has anyone found a way of safely attaching a lanyard to the quad spanner that Flints sell, other than putting it through one of the spanner ends? It always ends up being the end with the lanyard is the one I wnat to use when up the ladder! Why haven't they put a lanyard hole in the quad spanner??? trussmonkey
you could always try drilling a hole in the place you want it then attach the lanyard!! :(
andy_s
a heavy duty cable tie round the middle might be strong enough to attach a lanyard. But it might be agood idea to proof-test it before actually going aloft.
mac.calder
Mine I use safety cable (as for lights) and attatch them to a heavy duty 'keyring' with a carribena ?sp? which attatches to my belt and the same the other end. It costs jack all, and I have had no problems with them. Cost EA: AU$5 - less than 2 bp.
GMPSA
I'm sure Rope Assemblies would sort you out.
Martin
Has anyone found a way of safely attaching a lanyard to the quad spanner that Flints sell, other than putting it through one of the spanner ends? You can then clip a lanyard onto this keyring and the keyring will slide up and down the spanner, allowing you to use either end without unclipping. stevenr
I make my own lanyards from climbing accessory cord or black nylon paracord, depending on the tool in question. Then I use mini karabiners to attach them to my belt or something solid near to where I'm using them.
limelight
Just taken delivery of a new batch of quad spanners - and they now have holes for attaching lanyards!! Might have a few spare if anyone is still waiting on Flints to get theirs in - let me know ;)
hughesy
For tool lanyards I use Severnside Safety in Cheltenham. The lanyard they sell is a bit more substantial than Flints (Is it just me or do they look like the keyrings from the 80's) and they have a recommended max weight, not sure I'd call it rated though. The lanyard is a Miller Bandit Lanyard and is available on their website/shop Webshop link here Down to working at height and then down to lanyards. They also do loads of restraints, harnesses, hats, fall arests etc. although I still go to industry specialists for things like that (not sure why, just feel happier that way, and they sell what I want to buy, I guess). And they do figure 8's in BLACK! (for the purist).
