Charlotte_R
Hi all, An am-dram group that I'm a member of is looking to get a haze machine to make beams of light more visible. I was just wondering if anyone has had any experience with the Stairville HZ-200? Is it any good? Is it quiet? Will it run on low continuously for a few hours during productions to make beams visible? Thanks, Charlotte
lonemorf
I bought a couple of the KAM600 Atmospheres for small jobs - whilst more "smokey" than "hazey", for £120 a pop, I really cannot fault them - One tank will last all night at near full output. Can't fault them really.
Platinum events
The hz200 is a good little hazer. You really need to run it off a DMX desk as the remote it comes with does not give a lot of control. It's the quietest machine but does give a good coverage
Ynot
A general rule of thumb with hazers tends to be that the cheaper the model, the thicker (and actually more fog-like) the haze.the effect can be helped by use of a simple fan (even a desk fan safely positioned) which would break up the particle density a lot more, even if the hazer itself has a fan.But don't expect a cheap machine to give you TV style results
Charlotte_R
When I was at university, we used to use neutron stars. How does this compare to a neutron star?
Ynot
The Le Maitre Neutron Star XS is a fairly decent machine, but still towards the lower-medium range (around 700/800 pounds or so).
lonemorf
Whats the verdict on the Smoke Factory stuff, like the tour hazers?Any good? Or a bit mickey mouse?

Sorry, I meant with regards to the output. More haze? Less? Thicker? Thinner?
