gibbothegreat
Hi, due to acquisition of a new amp, I'm in a position to cascade all my amps, the original install having been, IMHO, consistently underpowered. My question is re the amps for the subs, which are RCF TTS18. The manual gives specs for these as 8 ohm,1000w AES/4000w peak power handling. Currently, they run off an RCF DPS3000 amp, which is rated at 2 x 800w into 8 ohm After the cascade, options I would have would be: to bridge the above amp and run the subs in parallel - rating for this is 3,400w into 4 ohms or to use 2 x MC2 T1500 in bridge mode, one for each sub, which is rated at 2,050w into 8 ohms. The RCF amp is class HD and includes power factor correction, where the MC2 is a class AB amp. Anyone any thoughts as to whether either of these is a better option? david.elsbury
I'd go for two separate amps. If one goes down you'll still have the other
gibbothegreat
Thanks, but I'll have spare capacity within easy reach anyway. Was hoping more that someone might have some insight as to the characteristics and thus suitability of the different amplifier types...
Electrolytic
try the cheapest option of using the amp you already have and assess.
