winch stands loaded in pairs

When using a pair of winch stands (doughty zenith @ 200kg lift each) do you allow 200kg total load between both stands or can you add the capacity of both stands?

If you can ensure that the weight is evenly distributed and both stands lift at the same speed then sure, you could add the loads of both together.

However since they're manual you'll really struggle to match the lifting speed exactly so you do need to de-rate that figure slightly. The amount of course is hard to judge in advance as it's completely variable.

Once thing you can do to help is do up the half couplers on top loosely when lifting, then do them up properly when you get to the top. If there is a bit of give in the pickups, it will allow the truss to sit at a slight angle and keep the weight on both stands. If the half couplers on one stand are done up to hell and back, the other end will only be able to bend as far as deflection allows which may not be very much. Hope that makes sense?

Of course once it's up to the top you are free to load it up to 200kg.

Or just use truss adaptors with swivel joints to allow for the angles when raising the lifts individually. ;)
