dbuckley
Just for clarity - is the issue that you have your icecast server on the laptop tethered to the 3G, and you are trying to connect to it from elsewhere? Your 3G provider may not allow you to run servers on your mobile connection.

bruce
Where is the icecast server running? If it's not on public IP, have you set up appropriate port forwarding?Send me a PM with your addresses etc. If you want, I can give you temporary access to an icecast server which you can use to test. I've never had any difficulty connecting to these sort of services from 3G, unless it's a provider that specifically disallows tethering (Giffgaff, I'm looking at you...)
