Pete McCrea
I understand it was multiple brands of product to give the size, and XL video were involved, as a chap I know was part of the team. I've not got explicit details on it, but info from trusted sources.
AHYoung
Somene I know made a couple of the films the were shown on the screen ans we had a quick chat about it. his stuff was shown on the centre section which was a 4k resolution, but this was flanked either side by lower res Hd screens and apparently the outsides were made up of lo res sd panels but turned 90 in portrait - this bit I didnt really understand, and neither did he, but he pointed out that only the middle was hi res and that the different resolutions made it tricky for the graphics guys. Id be keen to find out more as it was an impressive setup and I thought that the content was pretty well done on the most part and the pips didnt seem to suffer from realy bad latency. Its a sensible approach as you only really need the hi res for the TV when its closeups of the turns so the fancy middle bit with progressivly lower pitch the further out it gets keeps the costs mearly astronimical. This is informed hearsay but I think that there will be a case study or two very soon...
benwillcox
Somene I know made a couple of the films the were shown on the screen ans we had a quick chat about it. his stuff was shown on the centre section which was a 4k resolution, but this was flanked either side by lower res Hd screens and apparently the outsides were made up of lo res sd panels but turned 90 in portrait I did wonder if different sections were made up of different types of screen as during some of the segments there were clear differences in colour temperature in the centre and outer sections of the screen. Having said that for the majority of the time it wasn't noticeable, but some of the content in the earlier part of the show (e.g. the sky sequence) it was quite pronounced.
