Yamaha acquires Line6

Just tried to get a couple of Line 6 TBP12 belt packs repaired.

Had to jump through hoops and spend 2 hrs on the net trying to find out who to contact.

Yamaha don't mention Line 6 on their site under support, Rang Yamaha in Germany, they pointed me to Yamaha UK who sent me to E&M electronics in UK who basically said 'Buy a new belt pack @£140+vat'

Tried to buy spares from Sontec.co.uk, still waiting for a call back.

So it seems that Yamaha have bought Line 6 and then passed on support for them to 3rd party agents who are not familiar with Line 6

Not happy!

That is a real shame! I had 5 badly abused belt packs repaired last summer, they charged me £45 each and turned them around next day. I tried the phone number I had for the service centre in Rugby, but it's now disconnected and a Yamaha number is given.

This is sad news! I was speaking to a rep on the Yamaha stand at Plasa Focus - both of my active paddles have failed BNC connectors and I've got a belt pack that's eating batteries. He said that repairs would be a doddle - just send them to their repair centre. Really hope all I've read here is not true. Think I'll fix em myself!

One of my V70's has died (the one that was eating batteries in my previous post). Power switch now won't switch the pack off. Got to pop the battery door to power the thing down.

It's technically still in its' 3 year warranty from Thomann, so I may just ship it back to them, but I suspect they'll want the receiver too, which is racked so a bit of a faff. I'd much rather send it to a UK service centre. Yamaha list SSE as a service centre, and I have a good working relationship with them, so I've fired the question their way. If I get no luck though then it'll be back to Germany with it!
