mjriley
I'm looking for a solution to interface with the Canbus network of a selection of D6 & D12 amps.I'm looking to purchase a Peak USB - Canbus interfacehttp://www.peak-system.com/PCAN-USB.199.0.html?&L=1and am looking for a suitable adapter to convert from DB9 to RJ45. Does anyone know where I can source these items from within the next 2 weeks. Mike
david.elsbury
It looks like you can purchase the CAN adaptor off the website you linked to??As for the RJ45 - DB9 - Ebay? If you had a location in your profile, it might help others to make more useful suggestions as to somewhere local to you? David
mjriley
Thanks. Can't seem to find any DB9 - Shielded RJ45 adapters on eBay, I know the shielding is necessary for long connections but is it essential for the protocol or can I use standard UTP Cat5e patch cables for local connections?? BlueShift
You can indeed use UTP for short runs. In fact, I have seen racks of D12 wired with UTP by some smaller outfits who probably didn't read that bit of the manual ;)
