paulears
I had to laugh! You forgot to mention it was cage fighting. Instantly our suggestions to use pars out front from each side are rubbish. Fresnels over the top are the perfect solution because yo don't want to light the mesh! We were all talking about four sided real boxing in a square ring. I'm glad it went well but the cage was a fairly important thing to not mention.

Biggest organisation for such things (ufc) opt for the dong load of 6 way bars option.http://a.espncdn.com/photo/2009/0625/mma_a_ufc_fan1_sw_600.jpg
paulears
Indeedy - but most on the audience side of the cage are pointed at the audience, not the fighters - the ring light is mostly from the inner trusses - effects and audience on the outer. Mind you, there are plenty doing it with PARs from quite steep angles and it looks ok, I guess.http://www.lightingconcepts.co.uk/images/PondsCageFighting.jpg
David Lee
Having had the dubious pleasure of lighting cage fighting at wembley arena I can say that Paul is right. Lots of fresnels top down
Pete McCrea
Agreed with Wilflet. The regular MMA event we provide screens for, is lit in the same way as boxing - shed load of PARs, and that is televised, so it's a method that can work... See Here, and a few not so great camera phone imageshere.
