Advice on Set

Bonjour,

I am currently the stage manager of an amateur musical theatre production group. We have started rehearsals and I now face the task of acquiring the scenery/set/props.

So here I am, asking for any input as to the best places to hire scenery from in the UK?

Or, an other idea I have had, is to design the set myself and build my own. I did this for 'Joseph' and it was amazeballs. So if anyone has any ideas on how I could design my own, that would be helpful too!

Thanks, much love.

A few suppliers I have used:

http://www.sceneryhire.co.uk/

http://www.scenicprojects.co.uk/

http://www.a1stage.com/

http://www.prosceneium.co.uk/

Don't expect any of these to be cheap, but if you want to hire a set you have to do research into what is available and how much it will cost. Then you can compare this to your budget...

Daniel, a question. If you are on an "industry related course" and have successfully designed and built a set already, is there any reason you would wish to hire someone else's ideas and vision?

I have never hired a set so I can't advise on sourcing one. What I do know is that if you gave some info on what show you are producing and what you need then someone on BR will have done it recently and have lots of help to offer.
