j rayner
We have just bought a pair of martin mac 300. To be honest I am totally out of my depth here. We have a martin 2518 DMX controller, a martin 2504 controller and a transcension footster show controller. Can someone tell me what if any would be suitable to use to control the martin mac 300? Any help is much appreciated. We try to run the show on sound to light so no lighting bod on a desk . What do you think gang? Apart from the obvious (I'm thick)? Nicktaylor
To be honest I dont think these were the right sort of things to buy if you want to run the uits with no op. At best you could programme a stack of cues with something like magic cue and have the laptop by you on stage. For each number press the next state. Itw ont be the same as having an op! I must say I wa thinking of some 300s for amdram use. But as far as I know there is no setup to go remotely apart from test cycles
scoutnetworker
I'll second Nicks comment, scrap the rest and get a MagicDMX dongle from Chamsys for either £10 (5 hour limit) or £60 (no time limit), plug it in to a laptop and create a few cue stack on it to fire from the keyboard. There are some good tutorials on OnStageLighting website and chamsys have a few training videos but its really not that hard to learn to be honest. Good luck,Al
Joe Bleasdale
You can also try Martins own MPC software, no time limit on it and all you need is a cheap Entec Device to output a universe! Some images of how the new version looks - https://www.sugarsyn...0056425_6580561 https://www.sugarsyn...0056425_6580563 Information - http://www.martin.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=22355 Thanks! Richard CSL
Better still would be to use freestyler as this allows sound to light operation, but unfortunately you are going to have to program in some cues.and freestyler will work with almost any cheap interface from ebay. Not as hard to learn as magic q. and as I say most important for you is the sound to light facility which magic q does not have (cheaply)
j rayner
once again many thanks for your help.I have found a fairly cheap lap top with dongle but allso I have found a martin freekie DMX desk.I am thinking of biting the bullet and going for a lighting desk at the side of my behringer x32 that scares me to death as I am used to analog, and running both shows myself.[scary poo for me] so can anyone tell me if the martin freekie is usable.your thoughts please.
