Speakercon
Just got hold of some 802's and an 802 - C System Controller. Set it up & everything sounded great for a few minuets, then a pop sound and some magic smoke erupted from the controller. After opening it up it seems a capacitor (C1) has popped.I'm not an expert on circuit components so I'm not sure why it has blown, or whether its ok to replace it, so was hoping someone more knowledgeable would have some advice. After a few google searchers I found the service manual - http://www.manualsli...?page=16#manualwhich gives the capacitor specification. So I then googled it and found this one - http://uk.farnell.co...400v/dp/1166067Am I on the right lines or barking up the wrong tree completely? Here pics of the blown capacitor. Its connected directly across the incoming live & neutral 230V. http://i1344.photobucket.com/albums/p650/Wiresandplugs/802-1_zps5a04ce59.jpg http://i1344.photobucket.com/albums/p650/Wiresandplugs/802-2_zpsaf111b5e.jpg Thanks in advance! addoaddo
Is the controller designed for 240V or 110V. If it is a S model it will not last long in the UK.

It says on the case above where the mains cable goes in 220V, 50/60hz. I assume the person who used to own it has been using it fine, the 13A plug looks like its been on a while. DrV
The one you linked to is not suitable. As it is connected across the mains you need an X2 rated cap. Farnell 1215463 will be ok provided the dimensions are correct.Dave

Sounds like a Bose working perfectly to me, apart from where you said it sounded great ! :P :P
