jmdh
Not strictly backstage related; I hope people don't mind me asking anyway. When burning CDRs for music I typically use Amazon Basics discs which have generally been fine, but if I want to maximise lifespan and compatibility, are there 'premium' brands I should be looking at that actually deliver more than just a big name like Sony? I have a recording I may be submitting to a publisher on CD soon and it'd be nice to send them something with confidence.
Bobbsy
Well, in the recording community, Plextor/Taiyo Yuden blanks are generally recommended as the best. I've used them from time to time when I have to deliver master disks to a client and they've always worked well--but I must admit to using any old name brand blanks for my own purposes. laolu
Still Sony, not because of the name, but of experience. And Ritek used to be good, too, but they are not available anymore, where I live :(
Richard P-W
HHB CDR80. I still have one of their BurnIT recorders which only works properly with the "low-speed" discs. The discs also burn fine in the Mac and have played back flawlessly in CD and DVD players that can be picky about reading other CDR brands. Shez
I've always used Verbatim for day to day and Taiyo Yuden for more critical jobs. I've been handed enough unreadable supermarket-brand discs in venues to steer well clear of them!
simontaylor
I use Taiyo Yuden and Ritek and only had one or two fail (if that) out of the hundreds that I've burnt.
