back_ache
I noticed on kickstarter someone has worked out how to turn a webcam or (android) smartphone into a spectrometer just using a broken DVD-R disk, cardboard and some black tape. Though his focus is on chemical analysis, could we find ways to hijack the idea for our own purposes such as analysis the colour output of fixtures? http://publiclaboratory.org/notes/warren/6-12-2012/mobile-android-version-spectral-workbench
Brian
Or if you want better resolution, ditch the DVD-R by buying one of these... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Diffraction-Grating-Spectroscope-Kit-/150871593994?pt=UK_Toys_Creative_Educational_RL&hash=item2320a5d40a
back_ache
I was thinking the software aspect could come in useful for example allowing us to post spectral analysis graphs in our discussions or even in our wiki entries about different fixtures.
